    Default Red Rose

I went looking through my rose photos to find something for this theme and settled on this one. I partially desaturated the rose and then applied a red texture that I created by blurring another rose photo. I also applied three more of my textures and a slight orton effect and blur overlay. Comments and suggestions most appreciated.

Christopher, I like the shade of red you achieved here. Nice idea to add the textures and Orton. Subtle and effective. Nicely done.

Nice use of textures Christopher, and I don't know what an orton effect is, but very nice result.

Thanks very much, Denise and Brendan. Brendan, here's a link to a tutorial which gives the basics of the orton effect, Orton Treatment in PS. It's one of my favorite techniques to use.

Nice rose and an interesting shade of red, just right for the subject and treatment. The textures work together nicely!

    Chris,

Love the dreamy look to this produced by the effects. Beautifully done.

Hey Christopher, you've created a great look here although for my tastes, I think I'd like it better if you backed off slightly on the texture layers. I'd also consider a slight crop off the top and right to get the flower center a little more off-center. Either way, this was nicely done!

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments.

Ken, I like it a lot the way I have it, but I'll experiment with reducing the texture a bit as you suggested and see how I like it that way too. You're definitely right that a little crop from the right would be good. Thanks.

Christopher, I love the softness to this rose blossom. Wonderful work!
