    Love the composition and I like the BG (touch of red adds interest). Great eye contact. Might be my monitor, but lacks a little sharpness? Alex

    The bird looks a bit soft to me as well. I also find the background above the bird to look kind of blobby and distracting, and maybe even a bit noisy.

    Hi Ian. It seems someone dragged you out of the zoo!

    The light direction (and harshness) got you here. Although you made a valiant attempt to lighten things up with shadow/highlight, there wouldn't be much detail in the shadows anyway. The other side was too bright. Nice composition and flight position though. regards~Bill

    Thanks, Bill. Actually, it is the zoo that drags me away from the wilds on occasion. In any event, I thank you for your critique. On first glance, it seemed that this one could work, but I couldn't get something I was happy with. I guess it was the lighting that nailed me.
