    Caught this guy in a dive from his perch heading for a vole.
    D300, 400 w/1.4tc, 1/1000, f4, man exp +2ec.

    He looks determined. Nice sharp capture, I wonder if its possible to pan and have a little bit of motion blur to allude to the speed, I don't know how well that would work, but I'd be interested to hear about the practicality of that option. Reflecting on it further it'd seem to only work if a) there is something in the background to actually blur, or b) there was a flash that fired rear curtain. though I don't know your range to the bird.

    Love the high key look, the bullet look, and the nice view of the face. I guess that the fully folded wings might have been preferable. All in all a memorable image capture.

    Top shot! Did it get the Vole? I'm interested in Artie's comment about the wings being fully folded and I wonder if that would ever be the case. Surely they need some wing for aerodynamic stability and control to the target.
