Taken on a 12 day Whale watching and Nature boat cruise from San Diego down the into the Gulf of California. The Bryde's Whale is one of the baleen whales and this calf was with its mother in the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California). the experienced people on board including a PhD in Marine Mammals never saw a Bryde's Whale breach so this is an extraordinary event that I captured. Well done on getting this 'in the bag', so to speak. I wonder how much space you have as it looks like it could handle some straightening. I also don't think the square crop enhances the image and would rather a more rectangular crop. But as a photo of a rare event, I'd be ecstatic to have captured it. TFS.

Thanks for your comments. I thought i had straightened the image but at re-looking it does need a little more and since i use LR for my post processing I lengthened the left side so the picture isn't so square
HI Myer, I have had perhaps 50 sightings of Brydes whale in the Indian Ocean off the east cape coast in South Africa, and never seen more than just the dorsal fin and the blowhole. Indeed a rare event, and well captured. Your whale is completely clear of the water too...
