Lots of open water for this one to play; moderate crop - I like the reflection

    Richard:

Nice still water with good reflection. Your shooting angle was good for a solid reflection too.
Sun angle looks to have been well to your left.
Pretty good exposure on the blacks where lit, but the white on the forehead looks a bit overexposed.

Coots are very difficult because of that bright white bill and forehead patch.

Looks like some halos around the head, esp. the back portion.

From a comp. standpoint, I think you have lots of options. I might consider cropping a bit top and bottom, leaving an equal amount of water above the head and the head of the reflection.

The head angle is pretty good, exp. because of the light angle it might benefit actually being turned away from us a bit more so the eye would be better lit.

    Cheers

    Randy

You had perfect conditions for reflections, and I can see why you went for that. Not sure I would crop more as the IQ seems to be stretched to its max by your current crop. Lots of good advice / comments from Randy that I won't repeat...

Good luck on your travels / in the jungle...and lets see some photos upon your return!!!
