Northern Rosella. Another difficult bird to photograph in a clean environment and again I got this one by waiting for something to come rather than chasing. The bird has a partly chewed berry in its beak.

Nice details, great soft colours, and I love the pose. I like the BG on the lower half of the image, but not so much above (and I wouldn't mind a bit less space up there)...I realize from your text they are difficult to get in a clean environment, so congrats on this image.

    Colin:

    Good input from Daniel.

Is it possible to do some minimal setup in this environment, so you can control the perch and background to some degree? Even in parks and such, you can sometimes do a temp. setup to allow more control.

    Just a thought.

    Very colorful bird, well exposed.

    Cheers

Nice detail in a bird you don't see many photos of.

I like this environmental "portrait" it gives more a context than the bird being "out in the open" on a clean branch. I also like how the green leaves are soft and muted with respect to the details of the bird and his blue wing and feather patterns.

Certainly an exceptionally nice image Colin. I personally get sick of birds on sticks very quickly. They all start to look alike. :)
