I promise to stop this bombardment....
This was taken today in very low light. I never tried turning a wildlife image into B&W but I feel this is not that bad.
Very interested to hear your opinions!
Thanks!
As a former B&W large format photographer, I am a fan of B&W images. We have had a good number of B&W images here in this forum and I love seeing them. You did a good job with the conversion and tonal separations but I am feeling that given the color of the tongue and eyes, this image will have greater impact in color.
I find that I like best the B&W images of wildlife that is relatively monotone in nature.
Great action so I hope you post the color version too.
I like this for the great action and the water splashing! I think that if the color BG is in strong contrast to the bats colors, the image would have more impact in color. Some of the contrasts in the bats wings here are close to the bg contrast, making the bat blend into the bg a little (IMO). Still fabulous shot!!
Ofer- another great capture. I like the b&w but feel it doesn't have the same impact your color versions have had. I too would love to see this in color.
I'm a great fan of b&w but seeing both versions I think that the colour has much more impact. Beautiful image. I agree with Robert that the best conversions are subjects with relative monotone values but I would add that images with really bad colour combinations are sometimes better in b&w as well.
Another super shot Ofer, I prefer the colour version..looks pretty good all around to me. Love the way the water splash mimics the shape of the bats wings.
cheers

No need to apologize for "bombardment." This has been a great series of images and very educational. I must say I prefer the color version but "good on you, mate" for exploring the B/W version. Cheers.
Have to go with the color version also. The colors make it more dramatic in this case. The great action and splash against the very still water tell a nice story.
