Well, it was a sunrise non event type of trip but at least this morning had some atmosphere as there was heavy mist when we went out. I was planning to shoot the sunrise using the tripod and slow ss, but with the topi in the frame decided to go with a higher ISO and ss. Perhaps it should be in landscape, not really sure.

Yep, I'm flirting with those high ISOs!

Hi Hilary, another one for the wall, this on one side and 'Gathering Storm" on the other. Really like the comp, strong, moody and original. It does look like a fair bit of noise is visible, but I am not sure if that hampers what the image is about. Beautiful shot
    Well done

    Very impressionistic, I love it.

I like "sunrise non event". I will have to remember that.

Hilary - I like the tree and the topi. Nice mood, well seen and composed. I agree with Grant that there's a lot of noise but it sort of adds to the misty effect. Have you run any NR?

Hi Hilary, given the scenes that you seem to be shooting so well, and their lack of available light, perhaps time to think of a f2.8 lens somewhere in the gear bag
    cheers

I love the composition , truly moody image, just my type!!! I would have been tempted to have shot this at f8/11 to be honest just to drop that iso down a bit ..you would have still got same BKG result..

great ''sunrise non event'' lol.. give me one of these mornings any time!!

    Thanks Rachel and Dumay.
Grant, how I wished for 2.8, many times. On my shopping list now that Steve K is letting me know how to get those big lenses on board the plane.
Peter, you are quite right and on some low light landscapes I jiggled the aperture, ss and ISO around but surprisingly not on this morning. I had in mind the advice from the landscape forum regarding keeping a very small aperture to increase the possibility of get some light beams from the rising sun-ball but of course, on this morning it didn't eventuate. I did manage something passable earlier in the trip but the composition is so boring it only has a place in the family album.
