    Patricia:

Lovely little bird with great eye, excellent head angle, nicely scaled perch.

The feather details looks a bit smoothed out, esp. on the abdomen. Perhaps just the nature of their feathers. I don't think it is a DOF issue as the feet are pretty sharp. Did you run noise reduction on the image?

    Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers

Thanks for taking an interest in my image. No I have not used any noise reduction. I do not have that sort of program.

    Thanks for the info Patricia.

I will chalk the smoothness up to his natural feather pattern.

It is always helpful to mention what post processing you did, as it helps folks critique the image in a more useful and focused manner.

    Cheers

I am a bit uncertain what you mean by chalk the smoothness up to his natural feather pattern. I am not all that good at fixing an image in photoshop I mainly light up a picture or darken it and I can sharpen it a bit thats all. Also what is a DOF issue has it got something to to with the lens or? My english is not all that good.

    with kind regards

DOF = Depth of Focus. Skärpedjup in swedish :)

I really like this photo. Great sharpness, background, eyecontact and a beautiful bird.

    Patricia:

    Sorry for not being clear.

"Chalk it up to" just means that the matter being discussed results from a particular explanation. In this case, although the feathers on the breast look so smooth that it made me think that noise reduction had been run on that area, it in reality must simply be that this particular bird has soft/smooth feathers in that area.

Mats: Thanks for the help with DOF.

When you comment as much as I do, you tend to use abbreviations to speed up the process, and some of them aren't universally known!

Very nice shot. Well composed, exposed and timed to get the perfect head position. Thx for sharing.
