    Default Cut paper technique

I've studied this image a lot and it does give me some ideas... My first thought was that it reminds me of "cut paper" art, which I like a lot and have seen some amazing examples.

I used Topaz Clean to get this look - nice and simple and (I hope) looks like an assemblage of cut paper elements.

    Hi Kerry:

I know little to nothing about filters and such, but I'd like to learn. I realize the best way to do that is to educate myself. So one of the ways to do that is to look closely at other pictures and comment.

This particular process that you used on this GE works well. I really like the look of the head and the BG. What troubles me a bit is that the swirling feathers which I liked so much on the original do not stand out on this particular rendition.

Nice clean graphic look Kerry, good use of Topaz. It does have bit of cut paper look, wondering if you experiment more you can take it further on that look - just not sure what effects you would use. Well done!

    Hello Marina,

The point of this treatment is to make it look like cut paper. While I have seen some pretty delicate detail in some of these works, they are mostly crafted from flat paper. So the idea was to make this look like that, which would mean that the feather detail would get lost in the flattening. You do give me an idea though... I could try to make the feather details look like "curled" paper, which is done by dragging the pieces across the edge of the scissors like gift package ribbon.

Nice work Kerry! Sure does look like a paper cutout! The egret stands away from the bg, even without a drop shadow! Cool!

Love the image and the process. Very clean and crisp. I like your thought on dragging paper across scissors, but my doctors have asked me to stay away from sharp objects !!!!
