I had withdrawal symptoms today ....at least a week since I had been out to shoot....so went out in pouring rain.. and got my reward when this chap turned up....

I would have liked all of the bird sharp...but I was shoioting @ 1/60 @ F6.3 800 ISO resting on bean bag...

    D3 200-400 vr lens.

all crit welcome and advice on my average PS welcome:)

Peter, DOF is good for me, only wish the background was a little softer. Good thing you went out ;)

What a little beauty. If it was mine I would take some off the top and back and also do some work on the BG to smooth out the straight lines. Nice image!

Ditto the above comments. I enjoy rainy day conditions...fun to get all types of conditions on "film".

I like the raindrops and the composition, but I think the web is a slight distraction. Nicely done.

Such a beautiful bird, and beautifully portrayed here! It's great to capture in any weather. Smoothing out the background as mentioned above would be the only thing I'd change.

The background is a little bit distracting. I love the rain drops. Lovely shot.

Kingfishers always make good images and this is no exception. Love the pose and detail. Cobwebs don't bother me, it all helps to add interest, like the rain drops.
