    Nice job Milt. Great to see your first image with 50-500mm.

    A nice head turn would have improved this image. Exposure is right on.

    Nice close up of the mallard.

    It just needs that head at least square to the camera or a bit towards. Viewer and duck would be much more connected with that good eye contact.

    I like the shooting angle or even lower if possible.

    Everyone nailed the critique - the head turn is the big issue here. (Check out the head angle information in the tutorial section of the forums!)

    You did get a nice exposure and good DOF - details are crisp and you've eliminated anything distracting from the image.
