Default Mountain Wheatear - February Theme

The male Mountain Wheatear comes in two colour forms, the grey pictured here and black. I was able to get down on my stomache and wait while he foraged in the grass moving closer. Light was a little harsh - midmorning.

    D50/EF500f4 + 1.4/1/2000 @ f7.1/iso400 -Beanbag. Removed a few strands of interfering grass.

    C&C allways welcome.

Great shooting angle and detail Pieter. Like the pose and glint in the eye. Subject is well exposed with good natural colours against a killer bg. Well done in the given conditions !

Will also attempt to remove the OOF grass on the left

Good job in getting low, gives us a good perspective of its habitat. Good exposure, erect pose. The bolder OOF stems in the BG at left could be toned down to minimize their impact on the image, and I would completely eliminate the one touching the bird near the rump.

Good stuff, very fitting for this month's theme!

Pieter, getting down and dirty has given you an excellent perspective here. I like the stately pose, and tucked in around his grassy BG.

Glad to see you got nice and low. The grasses really don't distract me. I think they go with the environment in this case. I would however give the bird a little more room, esp at the bottom where it appears his virtual feet may need a bit more room. THen I would probably give a tad more room on the right side as well.

Thank you all, appreciate the feedback. Marina I see what you mean about the virtual feet. I have room and will look at another crop with your suggestions.

I like the low angle and alert pose.
