This Darter ( Anhinga ) would not face me at any stage whilst swallowing his catch. This was the best angle I chose to share this image with you.

    Stuart:

How rude of him to not give you a good head angle.

It does give a nice profile view of the fish.
The light is really nice here, with excellent eye, so you still have a sense of eye contact despite the head angle.

Maybe a bit of space below if you have it, to give the neck some virtual room.

    Cheers

    Randy

    Hi Stuart:

You did well with this subject who chose not to be accommodating. Doesn't it sometimes feel as though this happens at the worst possible moment...or what could have been the best photographic moment?

The picture is tack sharp. I love the eye of this anhinga vs. ours. I would add a bit more space on the bottom if you have it.

Randy, Marina, thanks a stack for the feedback. Unfortunately, I dont have any more room on the bottom. As my focussing point was on the head, it has pulled up the bottom of the frame, and I suppose I was lucky to have not cut the bottom off.

I think something happening in a scene (such as a fish meeting its demise) over-rides head angle considerations which appply more to portraits, even if it is one of a bird in flight. Great sharpness and detail. I'm thinking maybe a bit more room on the bottom. Excellent work. regards~Bill

The bird looks very wet without any of the potential "slickness" problems. Agree about head angle, but all in all a keeper to me.

Stuart I am with William the action captured with the fish compensates for the HA. Nice light and sharpness.

Great sharp detail and IQ. Like the pose and catch. Subject is well exposed with good natural colours against a killer bg. Well done Stu !
