Hi Everybody
Just want to introduce myself, won't take long. I am originally an Ozzie, but spent the last six years travelling and working as an ecology researcher in various institutions. Now I find myself living and working in the rainforests of Panama. When I emerge from the forest I find myself on Pipeline road near Gamboa - maybe you've heard of it? 500+ bird species present at some time during the year (385 recorded during a census on a single day!).
So I've set myself a challenge - see how many "aesthetically pleasing" shots of bird species I can get while I'm here (2yrs at least).
Currently I would grade my photographic skills as enthusiastic but technically challenged - especially in terms of pp. Thats why I came here, to get better in all aspects of photography through reading blogs and sharing images for critique. If all goes well, in return I will provide the members with constantly improving pictures of amazing rainforest birds. Now that you've got to know me, you may as well call me Stu. everyone else does.
Hi Stu, and welcome to BPN!! Lots to read and lots to learn from here. You've found the right place. be sure to check out the Tutorials and Educational Resources forum...lots of great info to browse though there
Good luck on your personal challenge...looking forward to seeing those beautiful subjects from Panama!!
Hi Stu: I figured there was some catch when I saw the "G-day" and "Panama" on the same post. Thanks for the explanation and your BG. Much luck on your quest. It will surely be a fun, educational and awe inspiring ride. Looking forward to seeing some of your captures along the way.
Sounds like you are in the Garden of Eden as far as bird photography is concerned, Stuart! Looking forward to seeing your images. We'd love to have you post in the ETL forum if you want - that's a great place to pick up both technique and pp tips.
Richard, I will keep an eye out for you - and show you where the oropendulas are nesting in the next street to ivans, or just ask anyone in Gamboa where to find me...
