This seemed appropriate for the weather we have been having all over the US lately. While visiting family, I got bored and shot some pictures of the gas log fire at my Sister-in-laws house.

The original image looked pretty cool, but while playing with the image in Lightroom, I noticed that I could turn the white balance all the way down to 2000 and it turned a beautiful blueish white color.

Of course I had to try Denise's "polar coordinate" technique, and I liked this version the best. I don't know what it is, but it looks pretty cool to me.

    Very nice, Patrick.

I'd love to see the original image to see what the lower color temp & "polar coordinate" did to/for it.

Wow - I like the 2nd image too, but it's MUCH different than I'd expected.

So, this "polar coordinate" gave the blue image its oval shaping?

Hey Patrick, Cool looking image. I like the way you changed the color to cooler tones-it gives an icy hot look to it. Very creative and great OOTB thinking!

    Thanks Denise!

The polar coordinate change did give an oval shape this time. Normally, you would crop the image to a square before doing the "mini world" effect. However, in this case I liked the oval "crystal vase" look it gave using the original aspect ratio.

Hi Patrick. Many things to imagine in this oval-world. Nice work on the effect, contrast and liquid like shapes. The original appeals to me as an "image within an image". TFS

Patrick, it really does look like a crystal vase. It's a great OOTB idea and well executed

    Patrick,

Greetings. The cool colors are fabulous! The sharp patterns within the overall ellipsoid shape are beautiful.

    Good show!

    Cheers,

    -Michael-
