Don't you just love looking back at some of your favorite shots/photography experiences? It opens the flood gates of memories. I'd like to know if this Grebe actually downed this catch. That's one big fish for a small bird.

I think I would love to see a bit more details brought out in the catch's head but esp his eye could stand to be lightened just a tad. Wonderful action and a great story!

Thanks! The Grebe swallowed the whole thing... Here is a repost lifted some of the shadows in the fish and added a touch more sharpening.

Very nice job James, thanks for re-sharing this with us rookies. Sharpness-wise I'm in between these two.

A great piece of action! Very sharp!

Plus, I've learned something: I didn't know they could catch (and swallow) such large fish.

Wonderful capture for both you and the bird!

Lovely action captured James, like the repost. Incredible catch by the Grebe and like the way the water erupts from the calmer water in the foreground.

exceptional indeed. Killer action shot...loved the combination of angled bird and angled light. Fish looks much better in the repost. TFS.
