    These male ring necks can give some of the best looks. Image made at Nisqually NWR.
    D300, 400 w/1.4tc, 1/400, f5.6, iso640, man exp. Cropped from horizontal. I know I could come in tighter, but remeber I am a lover of fg

    Nice eye contact and low angle. May need just a little rotation. Might also be inclined to take more off the bottom.

    Quite the stare...this guy looks annoyed! Exposure looks good on this tough subject. The image does need CW rotation, and I personally don't think vertical was the way to go here. I'd eliminate about half the bottom space, and add some canvas at right (if you have it) - but if you love FGs as much as you do it may not be your favorite option...the one that really matters in the end.

    I agree that the vertical here doesn't work for me but, in the end, it's what works for you! I like fog as well but my favorite pictures of these guys are in gorgeous light b/c that's when their colors really shine.

    Todd, love the stare, and you have captured the head perfectly, to show both yellow eyes.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone. Re: crop choice, my main reason for going vert with this one was there were to many other ducks with less than desirable positions around him but I really liked his stare so I made a compromise comp wise.
