Sitting on an rather steep embankment waiting for the resident spotted sandpiper that often feeds in the bayou below, this little guy showed up and demanded a portrait. Actually, for the last several years I can count on this bird hanging around, though rarely getting as close as he did today. Although feather detail was quite good in the RAW image, downsizing and smart sharpen in CS5 didn't do it justice, and I'm wondering if there are alternate sharpening schemes that I ought to think about. Comments and critique welcomed. Regards~Bill

Bill, excellent angle and pose. Liked the crop too. There's quite a bit of tension in the image.

Interesting angle and I really like the little bit of food in the bill.

I didn't know what I felt about this image until I read the first critique....tension. That is exactly what I feel. Love the food in bill. I imagine from the light and environment that this was not an easy photograph to capture.

Appreciate the comments. Is tension a good thing or bad thing? I'm thinking good. It was sort of odd sitting on the same incline as the bird, which was actually a bit above me, and I had to twist my body around. regards~Bill
