Default Lion roaring as he approaches a female with intent

    Attached Images Attached Images

This male lion had been pursuing the females all morning. He had spent a couple of hours patiently following the females waiting for the right moment to mate.

Soon after the sun came up over the horizon he became impatient. He decided to chance his luck and approach the females with intent. This image was recorded as he was within striking distance of the female.

If you want to see her reaction then the "NOT NOW" image can found HERE

    Canon 1DMK3, 300mm, f3.5, ISO400, 1/2000

    C&C welcome.

    Cheers

    Austin,

Glorious rich colour, you must have had some good light.

Nice looking Lion and the pose is great.

The reaction is wonerdful as well, Lions "mating" is one of the few times Lions are active

Love the light and the face, lots of contained energy here. The oof background really sets off the lion.

A handsome male here Austin in some great light which has given good separation between BG & subject. Personally would like to see a bit more space at the foot of the image, any more?

Think what you could have done if you had the 800mm.

    BTW Great light this morning.

I still wonder how anyone gets an 800mm lens transported these days. It's a struggle to get normal lenses on board!

he's got quite a nice golden mane, and the light & pose are superb! I wish for a tad more space behind and below, but no deal breaker.

    top notch IQ as usual

It's easy Hilary, will show you when I am back, but you need to buy another bag. A one off and it is cabin size too. BTW the 800 is the same size as the 500.

Great light, pose, and color. I especially like the four different leg positions.
