Found a nest of baby pronghorns last summer, great fun. Don't know what caused them to run off this time (I had been watching them for about 20 minutes without incident) but I fired off a few shots while they were somewhat parallel. I liked the bounding one up front and the look on his face. About a 2/3 crop out of the middle, it'll do until I get something better. 40D, 500/4 + 1.4xTC, f6.3, 1/1600s, ISO 500, +1/3 EC, HH from vehicle.

    Sweet image Steve.

Pano crop works very well, and having the OOF grass 'sandwiching' the main action is a nice touch. The front one really makes it, especially with a hint of catchlight. Curious to know why you went to ISO 500 based on the SS, was it to get a bit more SS?

Very nice indeed Steve. I have never seen so many of these young together in one image.

I agree that the OOF top and bottom works well to bring your eye along the group.

    Cheers

Thanks for the comments you two.

    Steve,
I have no idea why I had ISO 500 selected. I was probably shooting at 400 when I first found them and bumped it up as it was getting darker. Truth is, I tend to get more caught up in watching than paying attention to what I'm doing, especially when I come across something like this that I hadn't seen before. I lost a whole bunch of closer portraits of these guys when they were only a few days old because I inadvertently turned off the IS during some early evening shooting.

    You are not alone

Nice image it is always difficult to get Deer/Antelope running I like this in spite of the fact that it could have been "better", next time!

Steve - I agree with the others, pano crop works really well here. And yes we all get caught up in the moment, just hope it isn't at the time of the opportunity of a lifetime.

Very very cute The pano really suits this image and also like that you have allowed for a little space on the left hand side TFS
