Family takeoff from the Mere with youngster taking up the rear.
The swans were not very active yesterday and I had very few opportunities to get pics.
They also always take of away from the hide, which is no good at all.
I have gone for a pano crop for this one and added about 5 percent extra canvas to the RHS using CA
Sharpening and NR using layers and masks. Histogram shows a little black clipping probably the ditch shadows frhs so can live with that.

    Ev +.67, 1/1250, ISO 800 F8 (TC), 40D +1.4TC on 100-400
    C &C appreciated

Nice choice of the pano crop for this one. Birds look okay but the Bg bothers me. There is a halo along the trees on the left and the mountain on the right. Sky color looks to green to me.

    Hi Peter

Mountain halo appears to have been caused by using shadows/highlights, have reworked and its gone.

No adjustments to exposure/levels in the repost, weird re sky; I double checked for casts and didnt find any on the birds so put the BG color/sky down to the light?

Your comments appreciated. I have not added canvas this time but can do so if folks think its an improvement

I prefer the colours of the repost (the first is just too saturated, especially the blues in the trees), but liked the additional canvas on the first. I'd be tempted to eliminate the hydro pole and wires as well as what looks like a street running below the birds (and keep a version of both as this is a good urban/nature photo).

    Hi Daniel

Bit of work there then but not too bad with CA; the whole scene was picked out at infinity right across the Mere, so I think I did OK handheld!

    thanks

I'd follow Daniel, save a copy with the wires and pole, then mop them out in the other version.
