I was going through some old files and came across this image taken a few years back. This bird is better known as the 'go away bird' as the call sounds very similar to "go away ".

Lovely and sharp and great complementary BG, Stu. Plumage looks to be bordering on oversharp on my monitor - I think this is related to the plumage being relatively loose in nature with relatively few interlocking barbules - I have similar problems with our Silvereyes here which have a similar quality to their feathers. Eye and bill detail is fabulous.

Thanks Tony. I agree on the sharpness. When processing, I had to reduce the normal amount right down to get away from being 'crispy', but still managing to apply some sharpness to the lourie.

I like the color in the background - detail in the feathers / eys and bill very nice

Gorgeous bird. I had to google it to see a full body view. I love the crest.

Lovely portrait! Nice creamy background, really complements the bird. I particularly like the detail in the eye. As for the sharpening, I would not change it. Looks just right to me. Well done.

Lovely fine feather detail and eye contact Stuart. I tend to oversharpen these but you have this one spot on. The bird and crest shows up nicely against the BG.

Good execution on this one Stuart.

BTW are there two types, as the shots I have are of a dark grey bird rather than brown? Be good to know.

Steve, There is only the one species of grey. I realise this guy looks a mixture of grey and brown.
