Thought I would post this as I have never seen one of their youngsters before, more a documentation image than anything else and was captured at a local game park. This little one was only a couple of weeks old, learned they are born with the quills on (thank God they come out the right way). They are soft and start hardening up in a few hours after birth.

I always say that all baby animals look sweet, even opossums and now I've seen my first baby porcupine and find it to be adorable. I love its little face and those are some serious claws. Thanks, Todd.

    Todd,

I normally do not comment on "captive" wildlife, but will make an exception as this is a great image of something I have never seen, thanks for sharing.

Very cute Todd, and good to see something few of us may see, so spot on in posting it.

Think Mum (Mom) must be thankful that nature was thoughtful about the spines.

Now that's a cute baby animal I like the transition of shadow across the top and the claws.

Todd- never knew how cute the little ones are. Great info about the quills.
