The crop is pretty close, I know. I deliberately made it this way as just out of frame was a whole mess of leaves and brances that I thought would detract from the subject.

That is one very nicely exposed hummer, Alex! The details - even in the dark throat - really stand out well. Crop wise I think you did fine - I might be tempted to take a bit more off the top as there is nothing up there for us to look at and it will make the bird have an even bigger presence in the frame of the image. If you can do that and not lose any EQ then I'd make the change.

What a nice HA and pose! And the BG is lovely so pat yourself on the back for getting it smooth where it needed to be.

Only other thing I'd think about doing is cloning out the whiter scars on the perch (or at least toning them down) so they don't pull the viewer's attention from the bird.

Excellent detail and sharpness. Nice pose and BG. I agree with Julies suggestions about the perch.

    Very nicely done.

Lots of details and a nice pose to go with it.

I also like a bit of crop from top and if mine I might even smudge up some of the darker areas in bg just a bit.

I like the dof on this one as well.

Alex, this is gorgeous. The detail that you have pulled out is excellent. BG is great. The crop is fine for me. A little off the top is fine, too, but I don't feel a need to change much, if anything at all. Congrats on a fine image.

Thank you very much for the feedback everyone.

I had not noticed the lighter scars on the branch - I will tone those down. I also had not noticed how much room I had left on top - thank you for highlighting that too.

I am very pleased that you all liked this shot... and I am pleased too because the areas of improvement are less than my previous shots

    Thanks again
