    Default Painted Catbird

I was inspired to do this image by Dave's painting here of a mockingbird. His inspiration will always be felt here in OOTB. :) I don't have any photos of mockingbirds, but this old photo I had of a catbird seemed like a good substitute. It isn't the best because the tail ended up out of focus, but I still like it because of the pose and clear view. I used DAP Benson and then added the canvas texture using texturizer. Comments and suggestions would be most appreciated.

Excellent composition, Christopher. I think it is a great presentation of the style Dave had started with DAP. Love the pose, perch and the eye contact. Beautiful DAP effect here. TFS.

Christopher, catbirds are one of my favorite winter visitors. Great pose and I love the background - it's a wonderful DAP image

Christopher, Dave would have loved this one for sure. Great pose and painterly effect. Nice amount of detail revealed and the leaves showing through are lovely.

Hi Christopher, your catbird makes a fine subject and I love the effect you got with the filter and texture work. The background is lush and I love the muted greens. I do wish the perch didn't lie right behind the tail, as my eye has a hard time telling them apart, but it's a minor point compared to the nice overall job you did.

You are so right about Dave's ability to inspire us. His spirit will live on here in the works that are the result of his inspirations!
