Another shot from my garden hide. By placing the food near to the end of a flexible perch I got some movement as the birds alighted and took off just about giving me chance to focus. I hope the quality hasn't suffered the original jpeg was 200.9 in size (don't know why I set the max size to 198k) and it was rejected so I resaved and it came out slightly smaller.
All C & C welcome
Looks like a challenging bird to capture with those white cheek feathers and black cap, Jonathan. I love
the 'dancing' action with the blurred wings. A lovely background, although it appears just a bit noisy on my monitor, but not disconcertingly so. A pleasure to look at. Thanks for posting it!
Terry
Neat pose with the one foot still gripping the perch - looks like it is flying away with it! Too bad the near wing is casting a shadow on most of the yellow flank, but still good timing on your part, and very sharp considering the speed of these little guys.
I could be mistaken, but the perch contour seems like it was masked for some possible BG work?
Ditto for the other comments about the pose, perch, and background. I'm seeing quite a bit of chroma noise in the shaded parts of the body and wings. Since here isn't a lot of detail there you might want to do some local NR.
Thanks for the feed back everyone, the perch was selectively sharpened with a Layer Mask I set the brush to about 60% whilst using 100% for the bird.
Regarding noise I am not sure I see it unless it is the soft grey areas that are blurred but I think they would be grey with the wings moving so quickly.
