One 'game bird' that seems have survived the shooting season. Personally I would liked to have had a fraction more to the RHS, but...

The colors mix very well here. Fine, fine shot.

    Steve:

Well done. The BG colors and the basic bird color coordinate well, but the red eye patches really draw you into the image. Sharp, well exposed.

I find the framing/comp effective as is.

    Cheers

    Thanks Craig.

Randy, I just felt it was too close on the RH side, will see what others may think. I have enjoyed photographing these for quite some time, as there is a good spot that is undisturbed for these, apart from when the shooting season kicks in. The 'comb' has really come out well IMHO and certain defines this bird. Certainly dropping the red & yellow in those 'selective' areas has released some more detail I think

    Appreciate your feedback.

Tack sharp Steve, and just love the light and colours. I enjoy these type of images with the subject peering out of OOF foliage.

Hi Steve, a wonderful image, like the foliage in front and the nicely exposed detail in the feathers and the head. Love the eye contact and the almost disdainful look.

Excellent details!! Effective use of the vegetation for framing at bottom. I see what you mean about a bit more space at right, but find it good as is. I bet if you removed the highest OOF strand at bottom right it would lessen the illusion of needing a bit more canvas at right.

Fantastic IQ and colours Steve. I like the comp as is, so sharp with great eye contact and low angle TFS
