I've recently returned from a wet season visit to Boodjamulla National Park (formerly Lawn Hill NP) which is in far north west Queensland, Australia and have a few shots to show. The finches were stunning and I hope I have done them justice.
That is really gorgeous! Wonderful rich color, detail and sharpness. Great HA, eye contact, like soft BG colors and diagonal perch, and the little green sprig make for a real pleasing composition. I hope I can take shots like this one day.
Great looking bird, sharp, nice eye.
Very good flash work. The only area I might tweak a bit to further downplay its use is the brighter areas on the perch , beneath and to the right of the bird.
I could see a small crop from the top, ~30% of the free space above the bird.
I have mixed feelings about the greenery in front of the bird. I like the color it brings, but would prefer it not in front of the bird. I might try a version without it, as Tom suggested, but it is a close call.
STUNNING subject. Great exposure and fine details. Perch is a bit too big for the bird , but if it landed in front of me ,I would photograph it as well. I vote for removing the green leaves.
Beautiful Finch with lovely colours Colin. Sharp with good detail, eye contact and a lovely background. Agree with a bit of a crop from the top and like the greenery.
Cool bird on a slightly too large perch. The bit of greenery is a wonderful touch. I could go for a tad more head turn towards you. All in all very well done.

Thanks everyone for your valued comments. I like the little bit of greenery so that will stay but I will crop some off the top. I had already burned that perch but will do some more work on it. The perch being too big for the bird was something that never occurred to me but it's just a matter of taking what is presented when these birds are always in complex environments.
