    Default American Tree Sparrow

A bit of a standard portrait, but I thought the frosted perch and bit of snow gave it an added touch.

Spending a considerable amount of time foraging on the ground, it is always nice to get one perching on a branch to give it at least a bit of truth to its name :-)

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/80s., f/6.3, ISO 800, +1 EC, natural light, handheld (very much tested with such a slow SS!!)

    Hi Daniel,
This tree sparrow is exquisite. The bird is perched so peacefully on this frosted branch. What a wonderful BG, I like everything about it! TFS, Ann

    Daniel:

Good hand holding tech. at this shutter speed. I like the shape of the perch, snow and frost, wintery background, exposure.

Seeing the complete tail would be nice, but the perch makes up for it.

    Cheers

    Randy

Lovely shot and a contrast to the 35 deg C that I am currently perched in. Beautiful soft lighting. Yes, the 100-400 has superb IS. With care 1/50 can be successful.

Interesting shape to the perch, and you have captured good detail for your ss. I like the softer light, smooth BG, and the snow does round this off nicely.

Very nice composition and exposure and very good detail. Pity the tail was obscured but we can't always have everything!

Lovely image with nice subtle light and colour. Like the shape of the frosted perch and complimentary background. Impressive HH skills for this sharp image.

Sweet and pure as can be. The combo of grey BKGR and the snow is killer. And I like the image design and the curved perch :)

Dan, well composed, great details and and I love the BG and snowy perch. I was at HIlda last weekend but could't get one of the fellows to land on a clean perch. I wish that this was mine.

Hope to see you in the field soon! :w
