A lifer for me, from the Jersey shore last Thursday. BG is a bit busy but I like the fact that it shows some habitat. I suppose I should have cropped a few inches off the right side for posting. C&C appreciated.

Bill, a real beaut for sure. Yes abit form the right is a good idea. Obviously the angle is tough, you did a great job with the angle. imagine how stellar this would be with a lower angle, and the branches behind the bird lower. Love the pine cones/ comp! Don

    Bill:

Nice techs on the bird, sharp, well exposed. The perch itself is really neat!
Yes to a crop from the right.

could you have moved to your left at all to free him from the branch behind him a bit?

The bill shows really well here.

    Cheers

    Randy

Cool perch Bill, and just love the colours on the crossbill. Overall, nice and sharp too.

Nice sharpness and perch. Background is busy but the bird does stand out well. I think a vertical comp might be interesting.

    thanks

Thanks Randy. Unfortunately, unlike the White-winged Crossbills that seemed to like the ground or lower branches, the Red Crossbill pair favored the tops of the trees. My only views of them were glimpses through openings in adjacent foliage, so moving a bit closed up the view. This was particularly frustrating because there were great potential shots of both birds feeding off the same cone cluster several times, but invariably one of the two was obscured by a branch.

Wow Bill, bird and perch are excellent and as mentioned nice view of the bill. Nice exposure which shows off the colours very well. Agree with you about a crop from the right. Well done on the lifer.
