Default monitor suggestions for a mac user

I have a power mac, and am wanting to upgrade my monitor. I looked some Mac glass covered monitors and the colors are more vibrant in photos than with the glare-resistant screens. But then there was more reflection from the glass. What are some of the other pros & cons?

Don't know much regarding other brands catering to photographers. Looking for an accurant monitor, 21 inches or larger, not too expensive. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Brendan

I don't think you'll find both accurate color and low price in the same monitor. What do you consider not too expensive? As for matte or glossy screens, that seems to be a love-em or hate-em situation. I love-em for the higher contrast and sharper pixels. I find minor changes in angle takes care of glare. Apple monitors are very well regarded, I would be comfortable buying any of them, and have bought them in the past. I've heard that some of the high end NEC monitors are good, but I don't know specific model numbers.

The Dell 2209WA is an excellent inexpensive IPS monitor. When I bought mine it was around $300. I believe the price is closer to $500 now. It calibrates nicely though is a little bright. With a brightness setting of 8% and contrast at 75% I get a luminance of around 120 cd/mē.

Define "not too expensive"! The NEC PA display series seems to get high marks and is considered a bargain compared to Eizo displays with similar quality. But they start around $1000... :wh

I use the same monitor and have been very happy with it.

EDIT: I think the 2209WA may have been discontinued, but the Dell U2311H is an IPS flat-panel and is in the $300 price range. I've seen some good reviews.
