    Default Lesser Goldfinch, Painting

    Hi Folks;

    Photographed this little female Lesser Goldfinch at Madera Kubo B&B, Madera Canyon, AZ yesterday. Booked in for Tuesday hoping to capture the Elegant Trogon feeding on the Pyracanther berries.

    Used 2 programs to create this presentation, used MS Digital Image Suite 9 to do a dry brush painting, saved it, took it into free Fotocketcher to do an oil painting that leaves the subject virtually untouched and creates a background.

    This method came about by Nancy Bell's very good suggestion. "I'm curious what the hummingbird might look like with some of the effect reduced a bit. Have you played with that? " Thanks Nancy!

    Comments welcome and very much appreciated

    Beautiful painting effect. I hope you get some shots of the Elegant Trogan I just started seeing American goldfinches at my feeder - I love them.

    Gus, I really like the painted look of the first post. I might take a small slice off the top if it were mine. I like the BG color and the brush strokes. The second post has some stuff around the bird. Very nice pose and head angle is lovely.

    Very lovely painting, Gus. I love the composition and pose. I would tone down the right branch at the bottom just a little. Nice work!

    Gus,

    I also like the composition and pose as well as the overall colors. This is one of my favorite painting effects of yours.
