Folks,

Greetings. I guess I missed out at least first hand on Dave's posts but have gotten a sense of him through other's work and his web site... Oh, and the BPN archives.

Anyway... a little flip for his memory...



A smorgasbord of techniques that I'm afraid I don't remember it all. Flipped a knot on a birch outside my front door that I've used a few times. DAPed and Topaz Adjust and Simplify are in there... as well as some of the ornament techniques: spherize and stroke blur. A curves here and a curves there. Some Topaz InFocus and sharpening and a few hours later...

Michael - this is an interesting flip - very organic with a lot different things to look at. I especially like the puckered lips on either side of the face at the top

Michael, this was incredibly well spotted! Seeing the potential for a flip in something with real eyes can be tough enough but spotting one in a tree takes real imagination. Well done!

Thanks much for the kind words... Thought you might like to see the original. Birches are rich with this sort of thing but the real tricky part is finding one just a few feet off the ground (oh, and outside your front door )...
