    Canon 7D, Canon 500mm f/4L + Canon 1.4II extender, 1/400" @ f/7.1, ISO 100, manual mode, tripod.

I know I'm going to hear it but I decided to post it anyway. I do have many other captures of him looking "normal" but I liked this one as he scratched his head on his back. It lasted 3-5 seconds and this is the first time I shot a burst of a perched bird.

Aren't rules meant to be learned, and then broken? Though it doesn't meet the usual requirements for being a great portrait, I believe you've captured a behavior beautifully. I think your exposure and DOF are spot-on. Thanks for sharing.

That is certainly an interesting capture. He or she appears to be enjoying whatever it was doing. With the eye closed, you don't have to worry about a clear eye. The rest of the eagle is clear and sharp. Thanks for sharing this.

I agree that the bird is sharp, and it's certainly an unusual angle, but I'm afraid it doesn't work for me. The head just looks peculiar and almost deformed, presumably as a result of the scratching posture. But a good discussion point image!

I agree that the head angle looks strange, I didn't know an eagle could stretch back that far and appreciate the capture of something new.

Nice behavioral image. I had to look at it several seconds to catch the proper head perspective. Interesting catch. I would not hang it on the wall but I know that is not what you intended. TFS.

Thank you everyone. I agree that this isn't something I would personally print out and display I just found it interesting how they are able to move their head like this. I'm still amazed what the camera manages to capture even though you're sitting there watching it with your own eyes.
