I so envy you in the Americas for having hummingbirds! We don't have them here. And so I LOVE seeing them. I like this image very much. Nice freezing of the motion. It looks sharp and in focus. Nice colours also. The bg seems a wee bit noisy. Could be me and my tired eyes though...

George, I agree with Levina...the BG is a bit noisy (as well as busy). The hummer is wonderful - great wing position and the details are good from top to bottom on the bird. You might try moving the feeder to get a more solid BG or try lowering the aperture to 7.1 or even 5.6 and see how those come out. Gus H. has taken some beautiful images at these wider open apertures and he's gotten good detail in the f7 range.

Overall, it's a strong image with good details. You just need to pull down the noise and see if you can arrange the feeder to get you a cleaner BG next time.

George, you know how to work those flashes! Relatively slow shutter speed and yet very sharp and lots of detail. Even the dark area of the head has good feather detail. Could it be just a tad overexposed? The feet might benefit from some slight burn? Very nice post.

Very nice detail, light and colors on the HB. Agree the Bg is a bit noisy and bright in some areas.
I wish the feeder wasn't there.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

The noise is easily corrected and any over-exposure was self-inflicted in ACR.

Improving the background will be a bit more challenge. I'm working to keep the whole bird in focus without resorting to an artificial background. The weather's nice and sugar prices pretty reasonable so please wish me luck.
