    Just loved these 'trumpet' ears.

Although cropped from landscape to portrait, I am still in two minds about the version. Happy to get the amount of detail overall, especially in the nose, as it's sometimes can get lost.

This looks a biit oversharpened to me, I think "softer" colours would help.

Robert, just playing and tried one of the 'Workflows' luminosity - think it more in keeping with the conditions from recollection, however it's good to see the comparison between the two. Personally I think it might be between the two, WDYT?

Nice portrait Steve. Love the ears. Light loos a bit strong but handled well. I prefer the re-post. Sharpness appears right on the edge to me. Well done.

    Hey Steve,
I think I prefer the repost too. Great job showing off those ears. Very nicely done!

    Hi Steve,
Nice looking animal. A nice complimentary Bg as well. Both look good but I agree with your own assessment that the best probably lies somewhere between the two. I'd lean closer to the repost but it seems to lack just a tiny touch of the vibrancy of the OP.

I like the vertical here Steve but think you would do well to add some "breathing space" to the LHS, RHS and top?

lovely light and details - I prefer your repost as the OP looks a tad oversharpened and too bright in areas.
the "luminosity" workflows work very well for both landscape and wildlife photography

    Steve,

Sometimes after running my technique on an image a tweak in contrast is needed or adding black to the black and neutral colors using Selective Color adjustment in PS does the trick.

    Thanks everyone.

Morkel, both images have the same amount of USM.

Thanks Robert, in fact I do run some tweaks in Selective colour as a matter of course, if I ran any contrast I think it might need to be in very selective areas.

Steve - I prefer the repost. I like the vertical comp and it's great that you got her in the open. I have generally found kudu to be somewhat skittish.

    Rachel
