Taken recently at Kingfisher Park, Julatten, Queensland-Australia. Probably the best place to photograph this beautiful bird as well as many other Australian Rainforest birds. Interestingly, this bird flies all the way from Papua New Guinea in order to breed in tropical north Australia. It excavates its nest in relatively low termite mounds so pretty easy to photograph.

lovley picture of a lovely bird I'm yet to see. Nice in flight capture, i like the wing down position. That beak color is quite something.

Amazing image of an amazing looking bird. Lovely exposure, background and posture. What was your shutter speed?

Very cool image. I am amazed at the quality given the shutter speed. Excellent panning I guess!

Thanks Ben, this image was captured using high speed photography with 4 flashes. No panning at all....

Thanks for the information. I see now that you had written "flashes" in the original post :)

4 flashes!! I bet the KF didn't know what was going on. Superb results.
This is by far the best BFP KF photo I've seen and a BIF too(I must say I haven't seen to many photos of them though )
The wing extension is beautiful. Stunning little Kinfisher.

    Ofer:

    Beautifully captured.

I am surprised that you can neutralize the ambient light enough here to eliminate all ghosting at this shutter speed. Flash would have to be the main light source to do that, yet the background looks quite bright.

Can you tell us about the setup, what time of day, etc.

Nice to have just the one catchlight.

    Cheers

    Randy

Striking colours on this kingfisher, and I like the wingspread of the near wing. Good job with the setup of flashes.

This is a superb image, really interested in your flash set up, great use of 4x flashes. I like the detail obtained in the eye area. Great BG as well

Ofer, stunning stuff. The whole flash setup seems to have worked perfectly. The way the BG is lit is amazing.

Thanks for your comments and kind words guys. This is a classic multi flash setup with 2 flashes on the bird and 2 on the BG.
    Cheers,
    Ofer

    Ofer:

Are you using an artificial background here?
Still curious about time of day and ambient lighting conditions

    Thanks
