Default Hyena cub? with a bone

Here is a Hyena that I found walking proudly with a piece of bone its its mouth.

I suspect that this is a fairly young Hyena as it actually looks vaguely cute and fluffy which is not typical of the Hyenas that I have seen in Kenya on previous visits. I would welcome your input on the approximate age.

I was a little fortunate with the background. The ground dropped away just behind the Hyena which I feel enhances the appearance.

I have more images from this trip to Kenya available HERE

    Canon 1DMK4, 500mm, f4, 1/4000, ISO800

    C&C welcome.

    Cheers

    Austin

sure is a juvenile pup Austin...lovely side shot in muted (guessing overcast?) light.
interesting low angle, was the animal on a slight ridge next to your vehicle?

I agree, nice background and with the walking action, you got separation on all the legs. Way to go.

Well done Austin. As Morkel mentioned, nice shooting angle here. Well exposed with good sharpness. Nice bg and well composed.

Always nice to get an animal slightly above you, they still look cute at this age.

I very much like the low POV here Austin and the placement within the frame, walking in. Agree about the RHS but guess you can't have everything and that is how it was shot. Nicely done Sir.

A superb image, agree with the excellent BG and really like the low angle. THe hyena pops very nicely from the BG. I also like the separation on all the leg TFS

Great line formed by the arched back and good separation of the legs. Nice contrast in textures between the sharp fur and the smooth BG.
