My son and I were fortunate enough to photograph one of the better fights I've seen this past November. Deer fought for well over a minute, it was very violent. I buffered out several times.... The top buck is in the process of being flipped over on it's back

    Image shown full frame

Camera Model: Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
    Shutter speed: 1/2500 sec
    Aperture: 5.6
    Exposure mode: Av
    Exposure compensation: +1
    Flash: Off
    Metering mode: Multi-segment
    ISO: 800
    Focal length: 800mm

Very cool Dale. I feel the pain when the buffer is full and the action is full speed ahead and you can't capture it.

You would have to see the entire sequence to really appreciate it... I think the sage getting tore up is very cool.....

Must have been some spectacle to have witness Dale. Were you ever tempted to shoot any video with the MKIV? If you did, would welcome to see that posted.

Nice capture. The tangle of sagebrush in the antlers, the flying snow, and the position of the upper buck as he's about to get flipped all testify to the magnitude of the struggle.

I can really feel the intensity here Dale...love the snow kicked up, sage tearing up and the middle-of-the-action capture...
