A different setting for this ram than most of the winter images I made, off the cliffs/rock and into the trees.
D200, 80-400vr @80mm, 1/800, f4.5, iso400.
Thanks for looking, comments and critiques appreciated.

On the one hand, this ram has a busy setting. On the other, it's natural, the face of this ram is so beautiful, and the body pose so lovely. I'm wondering if a tighter crop would help keep the viewer locked on that face. 80 mm?! You two were close! Nice job, Todd!
Thanks Ron. Have that image as well, shot vertically @185mm. Nice to shoot more than one comp if given the time.

Beautiful Ram, with added bonus of grass in mouth.
BG is a little busy but that's what nature is like most of the time.
Really like the natural light on this one Todd and the blades of grass in the mouth echoing the direction/angle of the horns. Perhaps a tighter crop might work, however I wonder if you wanted to still keep it open, what about something like this, using the sides to add a more 'solid' edge? I think also the trunk of the tree to the RHS is a little 'too sharp' and by slightly 'knocking' it back a bit, helps the Ram, WDYT.
Apologies one of the auto actions is adding some USM and this went into the final mix only on the Ram.

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
I like the reposted crop, and feel that the tracks in the snow become more of a helpful element, filling that space and creating depth, leading to the rear. What a face!
I must confess, I was going to take a stab at this like Steve did, but can't figure out how to download a posted image. I tried dragging it to pshop, but the message said pshop didn't support this kind of file. How do you do it? Thx!
I would suggest a tighter crop.
Thanks, Robert! I practiced by cropping Todd's image, which I hope was okay!

Nice detail in the snow and ram. Also like the head on, inquisitive look. Don't mind all the trees in the BG, they're a good indicator of habitat. Having them lean in opposite directions makes it appear more cluttered than if they were "lined up".
I am with you on the original Todd. Like the environment.
Thanks everyone for the feedback, much appreciated. I like the suggested crops but like the extra space. Part of that has to do with I have been fortunate to have made so many different comps with different bg's the last couple of years.
Thanks again.
