    Hi Folks;

    Captured this Cactus Wren (AZ State Bird) tippy toeing gingerly on top of a Cholla cactus which he shares with Curve-billed Thrashers in our garden.

    Drawing done with MS Digital Image Suite 9, including artistic stroke edges.

    Comments welcome and appreciated.

    Nice. I like your choice in protecting or restoring the eye.

    Gus, I love this one. The BG is lovely and the spiked looking perch blends nicely w/ the BG. I see a couple of artifacts near the tail that I might be tempted to remove if it were mine. Nicely done.

    Hi Denise;

    Those are not artifacts, were added by drawing photo, but I could have removed them.

    Gus,

    Love the colors and character of the background as well as the pose of the bird. Well done. I like the re-post better with the paint ticks removed.

    Such a beautiful and soft portrait, Gus! I really like the soft pastels against the darker, heavier colors of the wren. The painted effect actually adds to the image and the brush strokes remind me of the twigs in a nest so it looks very complimentary to the natural surroundings of the bird.
