    Default Mallard wing stretch

Photographed in the afternoon as shadows were starting to lengthen. This was the only duck still in sunlight at a local lake with just a bit of water not frozen. I am really working on trying to get the microadjustment of this lens with the 7D. Life seemed to be easier without all the additional options of new cameras .

    Canon 7D, Canon 400 f4 DO, f10, 1/400, exp. comp. +2/3, ISO 400, tripod.

All comments and critiques very welcome.

The Mallard looks nice and sharp to me. Did you try to recover some shadows around the head area? I love the stretching pose.

Lovely timing and excellent exposure. You have my sympathy regarding microadjustment I have tried it several times and found it to be a very subjective exercise - I left my lenses on factory settings in the end. the focus on this shot looks fine to me.

    Jon:

If you use a device like lens align, it takes some of the subjectivity out of the equation, and I am convinced that it really helps significantly with certain lens/body combinations.

    Nancy: Love the pose, colors.

    Cheers
