Took this photo of the White-eared Hummingbird visitor at Madera Kubo B&B, Madera Canyon, AZ, and converted it with MS Digital Image Suite 9.

Gus, I really like all these backgrounds you are creating. I'm curious what the hummingbird might look like with some of the effect reduced a bit. Have you played with that?

Gus, I like the painterly sketched look in the BG. I think Nancy makes a good suggestion. You really got some sharp details on this one as I can see by the eye.

Hi Ladies;

Special post for you - Denise; because you give us 199% 16/7. Nancy: Because I retired to 8000' Southern Colorado, Oct. `86. (Nancy's Southern counter part) on the 5th. On the 5th of Oct it was 5 F and 5" snow, I skedaled to Hawaii the next day after selling furniture for a 3 BR room for $!.

Now to answer your question: Have I played with reducing the effect of the subject in paintings & drawings? Answer: Yes, many times, and when wild the way I like it, I usually get, "Suggest that making beak and eye more evident would be a improvement (Reason I posted info on abstract method. Basically there are no rules, only methods by famous painter's and inovators)

NBD: I try to stay with forum name, "Birdphotographers net" but enjoy every off shoot I watch on the forums, and which I enjoy very much , OOTB especially, which is bascally, "No rules & pushing the envelope!"

Here is OP changed slightly to offer a balance of the clear view & the slightly off view.

Gus, I think that either one looks great. I would prefer #2 hanging on my wall as it seems more like a painting.

Gus, I'm with you on #1. Given the abstract theme this week I think you hit the head!!! Nice image and application. #2 is also nice, but not as ...

PS ... Denise, I think you could add the theme heading to this. It is an abstract ... vs realistic image afterall.
