    Default Pygmy Kingfisher

Very similar to the Malachite Kingfisher, the smallest of the Kingfishers in Southern Africa taken at Nylsvley. Had to manoeuvre around to find a gap in the foliage to get this shot. Lucky he staid around as they normally dart off at a rapid rate.

50D/EF500f4/1/500&f5.6/iso400/EC+0.33 - NR and slight blur on BG and removed a twig behind the bird.

    C&C allways welcome.

The image has an appealing dreamy feel to it with the hazy BG and slight OOF FG veil at the bottom. The KF pops right off the BG! Great eye on this fella. I'd be tempted to tone down the darkish "X" in the BG directly in front of the bill.

I'm a king fisher fan, so i like most images i see. Sharp and the colours look good. I have looked at these guys as museum specimens - the real live thing is far more appealing. Nice BG, and now that i look at it I agree with daniel about the x in the background. No idea as to how to address this in Photoshop.

Hey Pieter, great sighting, and glad you got a decent shot of him and fairly close too. Colour look good, and I like the slightly tilted pose. Well captured.

This is a super capture, awesome little fellow. For me the only distraction is the web on the bottom of the twig, maybe thats just coz i really dont like spiders :)
