The purple galinule is one of my favorite birds for color that I have photographed (the other is the Lilac Breasted Roller of South Africa). I would like to submit this image in a club competition but I know club judges typically don't like black backgrounds which I love. Also they like a tighter cropping. I like the image as it is but I'd like some comments to see if I'm wrong.
Thanks
Murray
Wow, what a gorgeous bird. It looks like the focus point is deeper into the image on the branch to the RH side, too bad. Do you have any other images from this session?
A good image of a colourful bird, but it is a little soft compared to the branch on RH side as previously noted. Perhaps you could check if your camera is back focussing??
Very lovely, with the bird surrounded by the darks and such wonderful color and image design, but as expertly suggested above the focus is well past the bird...
later and love, artie

Hi Murray,
Love the composition, the colors are fantastic, and the soft dark background bring everything together. Must agree with the others about the focus point. But very nice shot...:)
