    Default Sharpened to a Pointillist

The color is straight from reality, I wanted to push the image someplace to take advantage of the monochromatic look. I added 1 stop of exposure in LR, then over sharpened on purpose to give the water a pointillist look. LR sharpening, amount 150, radius 1, detail 25, masking 0. If anything, I think maybe I didn't go quite far enough.

I can't ID the bird, the black rump has me stumped.

Lovely light and PP work, Alan! I think you could have gone a little further with the sharpening, but I like it as presented. This is an adult male gadwall.

Alan, I agree w/ Keith regarding the species and the processing. I might tone down the specular highlights on the bill and in the reflection of the bill if it were mine. Nice soft light. Well done.

Neat idea to use sharpening for a pointillist look, Alan. I agree with Kevin that you could go further with the sharpening and accent the effect even more. Love the lighting and pose. Looks a little tight on the bottom to me. Well done!

Alan, the lighting and effect is really nice. Ditto the highlights on the bill. I love the soft colors.

Nice composition, Alan. I too like the colors and effect. Higher sharpness would be even better.
