    Default Landscape lens suggestion

Hey gang, a question to the landscapers, with the canon 5dMKII , what lens would you prefer to have in your bag?
I own a 10-22mm , and my dad lets me use his 17-55mm; however they will not go on the 5d MK2.
I'm considering the 24mm II t/s lens, as it serves multiple interests.
my crop body is the 7d, however i was thinking there's some advantages using the whole body for landscapes... i'm open to hearing your pro and cons.
    Cheers don

    Don,

I carry a 5DII also. But I carry only two short lenses: 20 mm f/2.8 and 28-135 IS, and often I do not carry the 20 mm. When I want wider, I simple take a few frames and mosaic. That way, I get even more pixels and detail.

Some say that wide lenses are not for landscape work, but for interior shots.
Whatever they say, use the one you are most comfortable with, but do try long lenses for landscape, and you might like them.:)

If you want wide, the 16-35L gets good reviews and if not for the good deal on the 17-40L I got, I would have gone for it instead. The 17-40 does have a little more vignetting compared to the 16-35 but both are good buys.

I do landscapes with everything from the 17 to a 500 and everything with and with out converters. Not everything has to be wide-angle.

    Default What about Zeiss?

If you are after a good lens, try a Zeiss Prime lens...
I would advise looking at what focal lengths you use on the 7D and multiply them by 1.6x
then you will know what lens to look for when using the 5D!

Prime lenses tend to be better quality, but the zooms are easier...
but the 17-40L and 16-35L are both popular, as is the 24-105L IS
a 24-105 is a good bet, as it is actually quite good, and has a good range...
24mm is quite wide on F/Frame... about 15mm on your 7D

Personally if I were so lucky as to have a 5D, I would get a 24-105L IS and save for a 16-35L

    Regards
    Will

You can try the 24-70 f2.8 L. A superb piece of glass, though a bit heavy. I don't need the 16mm end most of the time, so I picked up the 24-70 f2.8 L. Also, when I require a bit longer focal length to catch an elephant close by, I use the 24-105 f4 L.
