Nice flight pose with the wing up position and the bird not angle away. I also like the catch light in the eye. Wish that the sun was behind you so that the near under wing wouldn't be in shadow as much.

Nice capture! I agree, nice wing-up flight pose with diagonal line and real nice catch light. Also agree maybe lighten up near underwing with H&S or dodge to show more detail.

Tom, it's a beautiful pose and a very strong BIF image. My question is what have you done to this in post processing? Did you try a shadow highlight adjustment to bring out the details in that underwing and belly at all?

Tom, I'm not sure what the rest of your specs were but I do see some noise in the BG. Nice pose and I would try to lighten the under wing just a bit if it were mine.

    Default Light

Well Ok but there are lots of ways to light a photograph and each one of those ways tell a different story. I have lots of images from that day of totally lit raised wings but I liked the way this bird was lit by flying into the light dramatically lighting the eye and accentuating that beautiful V shape of the rim-lit wings. I made the conscious decsion not to increase the brightness of the underwing because it detracted from what attracted me to this light and composition to begin with. I assume from the comments that you disagree with that decision.
