These birds have a distinctive behaviour when calling. When they call, around every sixth call, they will fap their wings and raise one foot. I have managed on numerous occasions to capture this behaviour, but in this, the little guy seemed so excited that he just about lifted himself off the perch, as both feet are off the perch. Taken early morning,in a nature reserve close to my house.

I like the behavior captured and the raised tail feathers. Enough of the eye is visible to make it work, although a bit more eye contact would have been nice. It's good that the bird's right wing is clear of the perch. I would consider toning down the brightest leaves in the perch.

Hey Stuart great behaviour captured here. Sharp and colours are great. Wing blur adds to the behaviour captured. Whilst in Nylsvley last weekend my wife and I were sitting in the vehicle watching this behaviour, a most comical routine.:D.

Lovely Stuart, like the slight blured wing tips and raized foot. I also like the perch and birds pose. I would tone down the perch as suggested by Doug.

Your persistence has been rewarded Stuart. Good behaviour well caught.

Background looks very impressive as well. Agree to tone down the leaves.

    Cheers

Another new African bird for me! Thanks, Stu! If your description of the behavior of this bird is correct, then you've told the story very well with your image. I'll add my voice to the chorus about the foliage. Doug's insight about eye contact is apt.

Awesome capture Stuart! Absolutely love the pose - the feet are great. Will jump on the bandwagon about the foliage brightness. Feels slightly tight on top.

    Excellent capture.

haha Love the behaviour displayed. I'd like to see maybe a slight dodging around the eye just to lighten it up a touch.
